The Unbuttoned Mind Poem by Kenneth Maswabi

The Unbuttoned Mind

We have erected a perimeter around our minds
Planting steel pictures of perfection
Dogmas, ideologies, cultural and tribal lines
We broke the golden rule of life
We detached ourselves from nature
We buttoned our minds
Closing ourselves inside our newly constructed world
We made solid rules on our doorsteps
Not to be touched lest we become mad, disheveled and out of touch
We have allowed fear into our mindsets
To hold us captive inside the walls of our minds
Its modus operandi is simply, it uses our own expectations, entanglements and engagements
Like an axe to decapitate our pristine manmade reality
This is the postmodern world dilemma
It is 'Woke' not Awake
Wokeness requires so many unspoken rules
So much unnecessary judgements
Awakening is a conscious process, a spiritual illumination,
An awareness of the known and the unknown
It needs the body, mind and soul to be in harmony
To be the canvas of life, we need to unbutton our minds
Let life flow unhindered inside our being
Let the sacred Light be our guide
Not the contents of time and space
Our thoughts and emotions are always leading us astray
We are always colliding with each other, causing unnecessary injury to our collective consciousness
Selfishness and wickedness are our new found powers, hobbies and interests
It's not possible to hold on the material world
It is always decomposing, eroding and dying
Learn to hold onto the spirit
It is the fabric of existence
The weaver of strong bonds, the vase of true knowledge
It is the path and the way to your freedom
It is the path of silence, peace and happiness
It is the unbuttoned mind
Thank you
